How Can severe Osteoporosis In Spine And Shoulder Be Treated?
Hi, I am a 58 yr old female, recently dx with osteoporosis in my spine and shoulders. I fell a week and a half ago and landed on gravel on my tailbone, then completed the fall, ending up on my back. Since then, my tailbone has been in rather constant pain. I ve used acetominophen, heat, pain patches and have been using my elliptical and walking (slower than usual) to try and work out the pain. Do I need to be seen?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Osteoporosis can be managed by incorporating nutritional diet ( having calcium, vitamin D)/ normal suitable exercise/ weight bearing exercises to strengthen muscles under expert physiotherapist( to support & alleviate bone structure ). Use of proper support while moving ( to avoid fall/ accident ) is advisable. An orthopedic doctor would prescribe needful nutrients in adequate dosage along with needful biphosphonates , estrogen supplement, Parathyroid supplement as per need. Thanks.
